to the High Honors Algebra
First Semester Exam
Study Guide!
How to use this study guide
1. Open a book! Many problems on the exam are similar to something in your book. Many of the questions you might have are answered in the book.
2. Collect and review old tests and quizzes! The style of the exam will be similar to tests and quizzes youve had in the past. The only difference in format will be a multiple choice section, but the problems in that section will be similar to problems youve seen on tests and quizzes.
3. Work through problems! Each of the problems listed on the study guide is similar to something that will be on the exam. If you can solve each problem correctly, you should do well on the exam. If you are not sure how to do a problem, that is something to ask me about in class or in study hall.
4. Start early! If you leave your studying until the last day, you will almost surely not have time to go through everything. I recommend starting this week, doing a few sections a day. You should do more per day in the earlier sections, where the problems ought to be easier. This shouldnt take more than 1520 minutes or so. (If its taking longer than this, you should come talk to me.)
5. Get help! This study guide is intended to help you prepare for the exam. The point is to learn to do all the problems listed here. If you are struggling with a problem, get help from a classmate or from me.
Below is a list of topics that will appear on the exam. Next to each topic is one or more problems that you should be able to do. When doing problems in the book, be sure to read the instructions in the book! Unless otherwise indicated, problem numbers refer to Written Exercises.
